Sue Harnasch, Stevens County Treasurer, would like to welcome you to the County Treasurer's home page.  We hope the information we developed is helpful to those who cannot come into the office or who wish to research property tax information when we are not open.  Within this home page, you will have the opportunity to find  tax information; when those taxes are due; and how to make payment.  Our staff has also added a section of the Most Asked Questions which may assist you if you have questions about those taxes and/or making payment.  You can email me directly at: sharnasch@co.stevens.wa.us. A taxpayer also has the opportunity to update name and mailing addresses for property tax correspondence via this web page.

How much of my property tax bill pays for county services?

 Budget Constraints and Furlough Days

The County is experiencing revenue shortfalls, as are many Americans in this turbulent financial time.  The Treasurer’s Office has cut staff by 29% in the 9 years I have been in office and is doing more since 2010 by furloughing.

The Treasurer’s Office is enduring 12 furlough hours per month (time off without pay) in 2010, 2011 and 2012 during these economic times.  We have opted to rotate the furlough times to avoid affecting the hours of the office and the community.  We will continue this unless it becomes impossible to provide adequate service to the taxpayers.  If it takes a few more rings to answer the phone or a few extra minutes at the counter, please bear with us. I am committed to maintaining the level of service to the citizens of Stevens County.

Due to staff cuts and furloughs and in order to keep staffing at a reasonable level, the Treasurer's Office is closing between noon and 1 P.M. Beginning in 2010, our NEW HOURS to the public will be 8:30 until Noon and 1:00 until 3:30 resulting in one half hour less public access and 2 additional hours fully staffed.  It is my hope this will result in better customer service overall.  You can still reach us at 684-7591 or 684-7592 anytime except for the lunch hour.  We will leave the drop box out in the hall for internal payments or tax payments with checks during tax times.
