WHAT IS A FRANCHISE AGREEMENT?
A Franchise Agreement is an agreement between Stevens County and a property owner or Utility Company that allows work to be done along a County Road.
 
WHO ASKS FOR A FRANCHISE AGREEMENT?
Typically a property owner who wants to install a private water, private electrical, or private sewer line, over, under, or along a Stevens County road.
 
WHO DECIDES IF A FRANCHISE AGREEMENT IS TO BE ISSUED?
The Board of County Commissioners.
 
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PROCESS A FRANCHISE AGREEMENT?
This is generally a 4 week process.
 
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost is approximately $42.00 (the cost of advertising for a 2-week period) plus a $15.00 permit fee to work on a County road for private property owners.

Your first step is to contact our office and we will step you through a series questions to see if one is warranted.
