Landfill>Transfer Stations Operations
Transfer Stations Operations
Access:
Access to each site is restricted by being enclosed by chain link fencing with the only opening, the gate at the entrance road. The road goes past the attendant’s office and over to the dumping area at the edge of the bins. The road also goes down to the ground level of the bins so they can be removed.
Recycling:
Recycling bins for newspaper, plastic milk jugs, tin and aluminum cans, and glass jars are located prior to the dumping area at the South County Transfer Station. Due to the limited hours of operation at the other transfer stations, recycling bins are located in nearby communities. Waste oil, antifreeze and batteries are recycled at all four transfer stations. The recycling containers are set up as self-serve for the public. The waste oil container is a polypack holding two (2) 55 gallon drums or a 200 gallon metal container. The antifreeze container is a polypack which holds one (1) 55 gallon drum. Batteries are placed on a leak proof pallet.
Hours and days of operation:
Each transfer station is open different hours and different days of the week. Each also has a different schedule for summer and winter months. See Fee Schedule and Operating Hours page for this information.
