Code Enforcement
The purpose and objective of the Stevens County Code Enforcement Program is to safeguard the health, safety, property and public welfare through enforcement of technical codes, ordinances and regulations adopted by Stevens County. As codified on Stevens County Code 3.40 -violations include but are not limited to:

  1. Establishing a use not permitted in the zone in which it is located;
  2. Constructing, expanding or placing a structure in violation of setback, height or other dimensional standards of this Title;
  3. Establishing a permitted use without complying with applicable development standards set forth in other Chapters of SCC, ordinances, rules or other laws;
  4. Failing to carry out or observe conditions of land use permit approval;
  5. Failing to secure required land use or permit approval prior to establishing a permitted use; and
  6. Failing to maintain site improvements, such as landscaping, parking or drainage control, as required by this code.

If you suspect that a violation has occurred, you are required to fill out a Request for Investigation form that can be obtained from our website or by calling the Land Services office. Please note that these forms are part of the public record and must be released to any person that requests to see them. However, these forms do not have to be signed, so the person filling the form out can remain anonymous. When our office receives a completed form, we will conduct an investigation to determine if a violation exists. If a violation exists, we will contact the property owner and begin enforcement procedures.
